THE VISIT TO SOUTH SUDAN BY HON. CHARLES KETER, E.G.H., SPECIAL ENVOY ON THE GREAT LAKES REGION OF H.E. PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF KENYA

On 11th February, 2024, Hon. Charles Keter, E.G.H., the Special Envoy on the Great Lakes Region of H.E. Hon. William Samoei Ruto, PhD., C.G.H., President of the Republic of Kenya visited Juba, South Sudan to deliver a special message from President William Ruto to H.E Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan. This was towards support of the South Sudan Peace Process. During the visit, the Special Envoy and his delegation paid courtesy call on the Kenya Embassy in Juba.

Further, the Special Envoy made courtesy calls to the Ambassadors of TROIKA (US, United Kingdom and Norway), Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General and Head of the United Nations Missions in South Sudan (UNMISS), Mr. Nicholas Haysom and Amb. Maj. Gen. (rtd) Charles Tai Gituai, Interim Chairperson of the Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (RJMEC).

Kenya is committed to support the implementation of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS) aimed at realizing a peaceful end of the transition period in South Sudan.
